I have taught English I, II, III, and IV regular, PreAP, and AP at BISD for 39 years. In addition, I have taught dual since 1999. I have also taught Comp I, II, Forms of Literature, World Literature, and Business Communication at UTB. I would like to learn more about how to improve the quality of teaching in my classes. On a personal note, I love to travel so I can learn about different cultures.

Hi, I am Danny Jasso. I am a 2nd year teacher and am currently employed at Nikki Rowe. I am very new to all of this so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I teach English IV, Independent Study (ACT/SAT prep) and now, apparently, the HB5 College Readiness Class. Some hobbies I enjoy are: watching sports such as football and mma, traveling and collecting comics.

Hello! I am teaching 3 sections of AP English IV, 2 sections of DE Spanish, and the HB5 course at Porter H.S. Thrilled, excited, and brainy are some words which describe how I feel about this course. "Let the game begin!"

Good day to y'all. Thank you for the informative and humorous workshop for us HB5 newbies. My name is Rita and I have taught in BISD for 25 years and four years prior to that in Marble Falls. It was like Cheers "where everybody knows your name," and you are in charge of at least three or more extra-curricular activities. And practically the whole town comes to the high school cafeteria for Friday Fried Chicken and homemade everything. It was an incredible experience but overwhelming, so I left teaching forever and cashed out my TRS and moved to Houston to work for a big Communication Consulting firm. Well, that didn't pan out because I was called to teach for BISD, and here I've been since. As corny as it sounds I haven't worked a day in my life because I love what I do. It's a calling to be an educator, and I'm grateful a friend of mine who knew better than me it was important for me and my students to stick to teaching. I suppose that previous line touting the romance of teaching might be false on testing days or when the barometric pressure drops that every educator "works." Resume wise I have taught all levels of English I,II,III,IV in all genres Remedial, GT, Pre-AP, AP, Dual and Professional Speech Communications. I only lack nine hours to teach Dual Speech, so I better get on that. In the mean time I have taken "what the hell am I doing pills" and am working on my mid-management certificate from Region One, so I can be a Dean sometime in the future. I don't know what I want to be or do when I grow up, but I like having options. Like Maria Mckenzie I love to travel and learn about different cultures to share with my students and make me a better educator. P.S. Maria Mckenzie is the bomb. And so is our HB5 team.
